How the New Year should be celebrated?

Now, the New Years celebration of my countrymen was terrbile. many of these customs are not Biblical which is celebrated with noise and disorderly. There is continuous drinking and eating and it is celebrated with fire crackers which is believed to drive away bad luck. There is a preparation of LUCK in 13 fruits and each year is connected to the year of the animals.

This is how my countrymen celebrate it when New Year comes. We know that either we like it or not, the year will change. Now how the servants of God will celebrate New Year with Biblical advises and how it was celebrated by the people of the world?

1) It is celebrated with disorderly celebration

1 Peter 4:3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: 1 Peter 4:4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:

And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;  (2 Peter 2:13)

"let us eat and drink; for to morrow we die" (1 Corinthians 15:32)

Here in this way my countrymen celebrate the New Year with disorderly celebration and excess of food and wine and drunkenness.

"And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares." (Luke 21:34)

2) Celebration that based on the fortune of the stars and of the years of the animals

13  You are powerless in spite of the advice you get.
Let your astrologers come forward and save you—
those people who study the stars,
who map out the zones of the heavens
and tell you from month to month
what[a] is going to happen to you.

14  They will be like bits of straw,
and a fire will burn them up!
They will not even be able to save themselves—
the flames will be too hot for them,
not a cozy fire to warm themselves by.

(ISAIAH 47:13-14 GOOD NEWS TRANSLATION)

This is the advice of God to those who put trust on their destiny in the year of the animals:

"And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth." (Genesis1:26)

But what happened terribly to some of my country, they put their hope in their New Year in the formation of the stars and on the character of the animals so they were born like animals (2 Peter 2:12) The Chinese are well bound in superstitions during their own New Year which some of the countrymen (non Chinese) too adapted when celebrating their New Year.

"For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not suffered thee so to do. " (Deuteronomy18:14)

With the lighting of the FIRE CRACKER on New Years celebration. many people are injured and perish because of this.

"Abstain from all appearance of evil. " (1 Thessalonians 5:22)

We should not based in the YEAR of the animals the destiny of the servants of God but instead we should base it on the YEAR OF THE LORD to those who believe on what He can do to him (read Psalms 37:3-7)

"To preach the acceptable YEAR OF THE LORD."(Luke 4:19)

"And I said ,This is my infirmity but I will remember the YEARS of the right hand of the MOST HIGH.(Psalms 77:10)

"Thou crownest the YEAR with thy goodness;and thy paths drop fatness.(Psalms 65:11)

"For all our days are passed away in the wrath ;we spend OUR YEARS as a tale that is told...So teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.(Psalms 90:9,12)

Now How the servants of God celebrate the New Year?

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans12:2)

What is that good, acceptable and perfect will of God to celebrate New Year?

23:23And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 23:24 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.  (Leviticus 23:23-24)

This day is holy unto the LORD your God; (Nehemiah 8:9-12)

<A Psalm of Asaph.>> Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.
Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.
Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day. (Psalms 81:1-3)

The good fate is based o believing to God (Romans 4:6)

"the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, "

Till I come, give attendance (1 Timothy 4:13)

Lucky Charms are unbiblical

Now we will discuss the superstitions which our countrymen do when the New Years Day comes. many of these superstitions came from the belief of the Chinese. There are superstitions about LUCK and to DRIVE AWAY misfortunes on New Year.

Many of these superstitions have no Biblical basis. these are only crafted and traditions. if we will study, There is a funny belief that the majority follow. One of them is FUNG SHUI. where this is the so called solution for the year is luck and prosperity and there is a so called way for the luck to come near on New Year. Fung Shui teaches all kinds of methods. it is centered in the position of the house, the lucky charms and other things that are believed that will give luck. Others observe the superstitions and divination (2 Kings 21:6 read it) where others based their destiny to the position of stars and of the planets. also on the signs in heaven. (read Jeremiah 10:2, Jeremiah 8:2, Isaiah 47:13)

On these belief, we based our own destiny to the things that are not real and by following it is we will be lucky.

The question is Is it in the Fung Shui we should based our future? Is it true that it brings luck/fortune and not misfortune?

"Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth. " (Proverbs 27:1)

Many of the Chinese traditions are based on fables with no strong bases. The future is not based on the lucky charm figurines and other lucky charm items. We also see that on the celebration of the Chinese of New Year is having Dragon dances. it is believed to give luck w/o knowing what is symbolizes in the Holy Scriptures what the dragon really meant all about?

The answer is very clear: "And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads." (Revelation 12:3)

The dragon is the old serpent called the Devil or Satan (read Revelation 12:9) So what it symbolizes the red dragon is the Devil or Satan. we can see it on the Chinese figurines or lucky charms.

One of the lucky charms we see is a  frog figurine

It symbolizes the 3 abominable spirits in the form of frogs (read Revelation 16:13)

There is also a COIN LUCKY CHARM. It gives so called luck so that the enter of money in you will be good. This is the lucky charm of lovers of money (read Matthew 6:24, 1 Timothy 6:9-10, Psalms 52:7)

To the ones who believe in the Holy Scriptures, we should not base our destiny or luck on the so called lucky charms.

Proverbs 10:6 Blessings are upon the head of the just:

TO THE ONES who follow God are all blessings (read Deuteronomy 28:1-14)

One example of this is Job the righteous servant of God and the man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil. (read Job 1:1)

This is the person whom God blesses. A righteous person who is an upright and fears God that departs from evil.

Next, you should put diligence to your work (read Proverbs 12:11 and Proverbs 10:4-5) The luck is sure because The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: (read Proverbs 10:3) All of his works will be blessed (read Job 11:13-19) because FORTUNE will follow to him (read Psalms 23:6) and no plagues will come to those who trust God (read Psalms 91:9-10)

God is the one who makes good fortune and not the lucky charms?

"the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, " (Romans 4:6)

"And he said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, I pray thee, send me good speed this day, and shew kindness unto my master Abraham. " (Genesis 24:12)
